Hi
Glenn/Michael:
I am authoring an app which uses your XML dictionary file
to offer a list of dictionaries for download. In presenting this list to the
user, I want to indicate which dictionaries available for download are newer
than those the user already has installed.
Unfortunately, the release
date given for dictionaries in the XML file does not match the last-modified
date for the actual dictionary files (and dictionary files hold no version
info), so there is no reliable way to inform the user. May I suggest either (a)
the releasedate of dictionaries is changed to match the actual dictionary file
last-modified date, or (b) a 'lastmodifieddate' attribute is added to the
version item of dictionaries in the XML file.
The better
alternative, of course, would be for dictionary files to hold version info, but
I presume this would require an API change (in Addict
4?).
